- Fears:
Being on the wrong end of a lot of fists at once, getting too drunk to defend himself, pissing off Ceofine

Losing the family goat and sheep farm to a Northern attack.
- How would your friends describe you?
Ceofine would say I'm another adorable, drunken, bullheaded addition to the family. Lucky thinks I'm darling, but dangerous, but only with a knife... And, Severus... *sighs* ...thinks I'm a hopeless failure as a wizard, but a decent excuse for a person.
- What do you like best about yourself?
My hair, you idiot. What did you think?

My complete inability to score better than a 'Poor' in Charms. Lucky makes it look so easy!

- History:
Roddy Lestrange was born on August 8, 1956 to Roland, a mortal wizard, and Brigid, a long-lived, but not immortal, half-fae. His birth came three years after that of his older brother, and was of no particular shock to anyone in the whole village of Ballycastle, as his parents had been heard trying their best on a regular basis.
He was raised by three families, all with a stake in the goat farm and surrounding lands -- a territory referred to as "The Freehold" according to the brass gates at the entrance to the property -- the Lestranges, the Morgans, and the Ó Ruadháins. From the Lestranges, he came by an understanding of the politics of the human condition -- something he greatly preferred in theory, rather than in practice. The Morgans saw to it that he was gifted with their casual morality and firm sense of honour and propriety, which had little if anything to do with the human standards of the time. From the Ó Ruadháins, he gained a taste for blood and violence, raw meats and thick dark beers.
Roddy was raised in this loving trinity of families with his brother, but the politics of living in a border town were not so simple. In 1966, in response to the re-beginning of the Troubles in the North, a group of armed Northerners, who blamed the Republic, attempted to seize the village of Ballycastle. During the course of the hours-long battle, several people were killed, and three buildings levelled by explosives. One of the buildings -- an accidental casualty, by all reports -- was the home of Robert Lestrange and his family. By all reports, their deaths were nearly instantaneous.
By the next year, when Roddy started at Hogwarts, he was convinced that terrorism was a Muggle invention, and that if the world were ruled by the long-lived wisdom of wizards, these asinine losses could be prevented. His brother, Rabastan, encouraged him in these views, and introduced him to Death Eater philosophies. He quickly fell in with the intellectual contingent of the Death Eaters-to-be, but he could never gain anyone's trust, because of his Irish heritage. After all, even an English mudblood was better than an Irishman. Perhaps not an English Muggle, but that was a closer call. The Irish, in the eyes of most of England -- wizards or not -- were little more than subhuman barbarians, and anything the Irish could accomplish could be done cheaper, easier, and to better standards by an Englishman. Such is the way it has always been between England and Ireland.
In 1968, he caught Lucius Malfoy's eye, and the two became friends over magical history, poker, and eventually whiskey. In the fall of 1972, he was rescued from Goyle by Severus Snape, and fell into instant infatuation with the greasy little jackass. He left Hogwarts in the spring of 1974, with top grades on his N.E.W.Ts, in History of Magic, Ancient Runes, and Herbology, as well as an E in Astronomy.
- Are you playing any other characters here? Yes.
- It should be noted that Roddy's pretty crummy at Charms and Transfiguration, potentially because he lacks sufficiently charged intention to do well. The few charms he succeeds at, regularly, are not on the curriculum, and tend to deal with more personally important things, like his appearance. He is excellent at the more intellectual subjects, excelling in Ancient Runes, Herbology, and, most of all, History of Magic, as well as handling a broom with style and grace. He is, in essence, the Neville of his year.
